Atwood Minitools

Friday, July 27th, 2007

These little tools look like alien artifacts, but they’re basically one-piece swiss army knives. They feature knife edges, prybars, can openers, and screwdrivers. I’d love to see one with a phillips-head though.

Tiny in Japan

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

The newest thing in Japan? Miniature models of organs. With chewing gum. Go figure.

Tank Books

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

Nothing says “tough guy” like a pack of cigarettes folded into the t-shirt. Except maybe the works of Hemingway, Kipling, and Joseph Conrad. So you may as well combine the two into one cancer-free package with Tank Books, a series of great novels (with a somewhat macho bent) in hard-pack form factor. Via Coolhunting.

C’est un petite pipe

Friday, July 20th, 2007

Hey college kids, want to smoke a pipe, but don’t want to deal with oral cancer in 40 years? This tiny pipe might fit the bill.

Thanks, Dawn!

Emergency Stool

Friday, July 13th, 2007

Unfortunate name, perhaps, but a nifty concept. The makers say it’s “Designed to transcend function and question furniture as object, art, or image.” Via Treehugger.

i-Sobot

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

Propeller pens cool you off while you’re writing. Perfect for the flop sweat that forms when you’re signing an unpopular pardon.

She’s pregnant, Jim

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Are you a doctor with a small practice? A hypochondriac in a studio? A batshit insane celebrity? Then you’ve got to have the latest in ultrasound: The Acuson P10 is a handheld ultrasound, designed to be carried around by the physician like a stethoscope. I thought these things required a goo layer on the belly to work, but who knows. It weighs 1.6 pounds and boots up in 5 seconds, but it uses the slower EDGE network and requires a two year contract with AT&T. Oh wait a minute, that’s the iPhone. Via Engadget.

Human Wildlife

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Here’s a book that will raise goosepumps: Human Wildlife charts all the microscopic critters that are living in you. And on you. Right now. No matter how hard you scrub. Ew! Via MetaEfficient.

Solar matchbox

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

If you’re tired of standard slot-car racing, or gravity powered Hot Wheels ramps, this toy solar mini-car might be a fun change of pace. I guess it misses the environmental point, but it might be fun to race these by aiming flashlights at ‘em.
